River Frome
This is a beautiful stretch of the River Frome that offers something for everyone. Our stretch is the Bath side of the river which runs from the A36 road bridge at Woolverton, downstream for 1 mile to the Mill at Rode. There are 3 places to park, the first is just before you get to the river on the A36. Turn right into Shawford Lane (BA11 6SG) where you will find a small pull in on the right that is big enough for 2 vehicles. The second place is at Woolverton taking a first right (BA2 7QT) towards The Mill at Rode. After 30 yards you turn right again and shortly after there is a gate on the right with the WDAC sign on it. You can park inside the gate and walk across the fields to the river. The third and best place to park is in the car park at the Mill at Rode.(BA11 6AG) From here the walk is on the level. You can fish here all the way up to the A36 estimated as a 1 mile stretch.

The river contains roach, perch, dace, chub, pike, a few big bream and brown trout. Five years ago the EA stocked 2000+ barbel into our river and in October 2018 the first of these was caught weighing between 3 and 4 lbs. Catches of chub up to 4 lbs are common, feeder fishing on meat, bread or worm. Small spinners and lures also work well for the chub and pike.
In accordance with the EA the closed season must be observed and fishing is not permitted between the 15th March and 15th June (inclusive).
